Kettlebells
Cast iron or competition?
Both do swings, cleans, presses and get-ups. The difference is how the bell feels as you move up in weight.

How to choose kettlebells
- Starting weightMany women start swings with 8–12 kg and many men with 12–16 kg. Presses and get-ups need a lighter bell than swings.
- Two or three bellsA light, medium and heavy bell covers almost every exercise. Add heavier bells as you get stronger.
- Cast iron or competitionCast iron is the best value. Competition bells keep the same size at every weight, which matters for high-rep sport and classes.
- HandleA smooth, seamless handle is kinder to your hands in high-rep sets.
- FloorUse rubber flooring where you swing and set bells down, and store them on a rack.

Kettlebell questions
What weight kettlebell should I start with?
Many women start with 8–12 kg for swings and many men with 12–16 kg. Use a lighter bell for presses and Turkish get-ups. If you're unsure, the Starter set above gives you three weights to grow into.
What is the difference between cast iron and competition kettlebells?
Cast iron bells get bigger as the weight goes up. Competition bells are steel and stay the same size at every weight, so your grip and rack position don't change. Competition bells suit CrossFit, HYROX and kettlebell sport.
Are kettlebells sold singly or in pairs?
Singly. Add two of the same weight if you want a pair for double-kettlebell work, or use the sets above to add several weights in one click.
